We are sharing here our recent interview with “Dream The Dead”.
Twist Online : First of all, please introduce yourself to our readers.
Dream The Dead : Dream The Dead has enigmatic beginnings. The songs themselves come from experiences inside of dreams. While deep in sleep, I meet those who once lived in the near and also ancient past. They tell me their stories, and I take pieces of these threads and turn them into song. Stylistically, the music is primarily electronic, but I’m always searching to breathe an otherworldly quality into this music.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Dream The Dead : I began playing music at 7 years old. Even back then, it was so easy to sense that music was full of magic, and so I couldn’t avoid being drawn into creating it.
Though I live close to a major city now, I grew up in a remote part of the country in the middle of a forest. Nature was a great inspiration and it still is. There are a lot of patterns in nature that are similar to patterns in music.
Twist Online : Any reasons for staying anonymous yourself while working within the frame of Dream The Dead?
Dream The Dead : Being unknown is more interesting to both the audience and myself.Mystery is one of the most beautiful sides of existence. Human beings need it as much as they need to know a thing or an experience.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recently released debut EP ‘Eternal’?
Dream The Dead : It’s an exciting beginning for Dream The Dead. The release is 3 tracks with vocals and a lot of atmosphere. When I started producing this, I wasn’t imagining that vocals would take center stage like they have. Now, I can’t imagine it any other way. It’s also downtempo leaning. And there’s a play between sadness and beauty that I strived for and hope is coming out in the tracks. A sort of aching melancholy.
Twist Online : What kind of response has it received so far?
Dream The Dead : It was just released, so it’s difficult to tell what the extent of response will be, but so far reception has been positive across Soundcloud, YouTube, and the Dream For Dead web site, where it’s received a ton of downloads in a short amount of time.
Twist Online : What do you enjoy more- performing on stage or working in studios?
Dream The Dead : Working in a studio, definitely. My recording studio is my temple.
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Dream The Dead : Generally, electronic, but I love a lot of other genres, too, from soundtracks to rock to classical. Tonight I was walking by the sea and it was completely dark. I could barely see where I was walking. There were no lights or moonlight and I just randomly picked a lot of new material to listen to while hearing the crash of the waves mingle with the music. It’s become a ritual for me and I listen to a lot of different music during this time.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
Dream The Dead : The goal is very simple and that’s to create beautiful experiences to share with the world. I’m barely scratching the surface on this right now and there are plans to bring a wider experience around the music itself as Dream The Dead moves forward.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Dream The Dead : Always. I’m already in the studio producing a new EP.
