An Interview with Singer & Songwriter ‘D’Meetri’

Interviews

Today on our Hot Seat we have with us a talented artist D’Meetri from the Twin Cities, Minnesota. He is currently based in LA.  His recent song called “Bitch” is being appreciated and applauded by his fans. Let’s have a chat with him

Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to our readers.
D’Meetri : My Name is D’Meetri and I’m a singer/songwriter. That enjoys mangoes. Mangoes are bae.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
D’Meetri : Maaaannnn… i sucked at sports as a kid. But i din’t suck at music. Also i LOVED it so much. I didn’t have days without music no matter the genre. It’s just kind of always been in me.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Bitch”?
D’Meetri : “Bitch” is a like a statement for me. I’ve been making music for a while, like pop tunes you know? But “Bitch” is like my baby. It’s so uninhibited. It’s actually apart of a batch of songs i wrote that i was just being so real and candid. But i honestly believe we should handle our shortcomings and bad news this way. the way the song say. the no bitching way.

Twist Online : What kind of response it has received so far?
D’Meetri : I’ve received mostly surprise. People haven’t really known what to expect when listening to a song called “Bitch” by someone they don’t know that well. So when they do take the time to listen it’s been delight and surprise.

Twist Online : Do write songs for other artists as well?
D’Meetri : I do. I’ve written for the likes of Trevor Jackson, Trey Songz, Miguel just to name a few. But that game and business is something that I left alone for a while. I felt like i was losing myself and starting to sound like the people i was pitching songs to.

Twist Online : Do you need some certain environment for writing a song ?
D’Meetri : Not really. Just a vibe and a little focus and i can write a song on an elevator.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
D’Meetri : Yes. I’ve got my goals mapped out in different phases. 3 months is how i break it down. And so far it’s been working out to my satisfaction.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
D’Meetri : Absolutely. I’m putting out a project exclusively on Spotify called “25/2017”. Also, a collaboration single with New York R&B/Soul Singer DeeMo & my partner Nicolas Ludwig called “Odds” next month. And a pretty cool video series. It should be good times this year!

Have your say
