Conversation with Hip Hop Recording artist SM (Sick Minded)
Hip Hop Recording artist SM (Sick Minded) started doing music in November 2018. Independent artist having many talents including producing, mixing and mastering, film production, editing, logo and design, promotion and marketing, and has an LLC for a clothing company under Sick Minded Muzik.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
SM : One day I was messing around on an app called band lab and showed my girlfriend a song I did on there and she was like “dude that’s really good how come you dont do music”. After that I showed several more people and they were blown away also. Never looked back since. Every learning opportunity turned into another and I think I just got addicted.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
SM : I My friend and I made so many plans to accomplish so many goals in prison, with so much time you have to occupy that time wisely. Well he ended up getting out and making alot of progress in the music field in 2 years winning coast 2 coast, it made me feel inspired that I can do it. He ended up getting locked up and gave up his career. He is the reason I do what I do.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the recent release?
SM : First month I gained about 6k followers and about 60k streams, people started telling me I was gonna be ‘huge’ and to “never give up”. I mean for someone just coming in that’s alot of followers a d streams.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
SM : Definitely performing on stage, I’m one of those hype characters on stage I wanna see the crowd go nuts and have a good night, I want them to remember that night maybe get some a$$, make it a 1 time thing and to become a forever fan.
Twist Online : You are multi-talented doing so many things including music making, film production, editing, logo and design, promotion and more. How do you manage it all?
SM : Simple SM I love this, but forreal I have ADHD and when I get bored of something I just go onto doing the next and stay entertained that way. I find time. Cant make excuses!
Twist Online : Have you set any goals to achieve?
SM : My main focus right now is to get verified on social media. There is always goals and new ideas, this is not an easy task to do, everyone usually has help but honestly I pride myself in doing things because it makes me more valuable! 1 tip know your worth! Then you can negotiate later or do things the way you want them done.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
SM : Yes, always i have about 3 mixtapes over 100 songs ready to go and every day I atleast write something even if it ain’t good I can use it later or in another song…I tend to record about 3 to 5 songs a week. You just have to know when to quit a song if it ain’t good.
