Interviews

We are sharing interview with an Australian singer and songwriter Jozsef James

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Jozsef James :
My name is Jozsef James, I am Australian singer/songwriter and currently live in Long Beach, California. I make music, I cook, I write and rescue dogs.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Jozsef James :
When I was five or so years of age I was watching legendary Australian rock band INXS play on TV to a huge crowd. I was blown away by the frontman Michael Hutchence and how he was owning the crowd. It looked like so much fun. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a musician. I haven’t looked back since.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “i Am Human”?
Jozsef James :
I wrote the guitar part in 2014 and totally forgot about it. When I started planning songs to record with my producer Danny Saber (Rolling Stones, Madonna, David Bowie), in 2018 I came upon the guitar lick and wrote the lyrics for ‘i Am Human’ over it. The song is about modern day relationships, lack of intimacy and how I feel that social media is ruining the mysticism in relationships for some people.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Jozsef James :
Great so far. I get messages and comments all the time from people saying they play it in the car and sing along with it. It’s been picked up by several playlists on Spotify and had radio play in Australia, Canada and the US.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Jozsef James :
That’s tough…..I love so many different genres. I can’t pick between blues and rock.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Jozsef James :
Connection. Music allows you to connect with people in no other way. It’s a very special feeling that you can’t describe. Maybe sex is the only way I can explain how music evokes so much emotion and feeling.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Jozsef James :
Yes. Without goals you’re just coasting and music would be a hobby rather than a passion right? I carry a piece of paper in my wallet that states “One day I will be a successful touring musician that wins a Grammy and has a #1 on the Billboard charts”

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Jozsef James :
I have two new singles coming out ‘Be Wild’ end of 2019 and my 3rd single ‘Blue’ first quarter of 2020. I will also be touring starting off with my first show in Los Angeles on Saturday January 11th 2020.
