Interview with Graphic Designer Nick DePalo of Empirical Designs

We recently interviewed graphic designer Nick DePalo the owner of Empirical Designs. He is specialized in graphic work for musicians.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Nick DePalo : My name is Nick DePalo and I’m from Staten Island, NY. I’m 27 years old, I’m a graphic designer and the owner of the graphic design agency Empirical Designs.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to launch Empirical Designs?
Nick DePalo : I more or less stumbled my way into launching Empirical Designs. I started doing graphic design as a means of creating album artwork and shirts for my band. Eventually I started doing designs for other bands on our record label, and it expanded into a business over time. I thought “Designs by Nick” or something like that would be lame and I would have a hard time getting people to take me seriously. I had aspirations of expanding the company to do more than just graphic design, and to include more people who worked with me. So Empirical Designs was born.

Twist Online : What kind of services you are providing to your clients?
Nick DePalo : I like to think we’re a bit of a one-stop shop. We offering many different kinds of services and solutions, like: Brand Identity & Development, Logos & Wordmarks, App Icons, Apparel Design, Shirt Designs & Screen Printing, Merchandise Design & Fulfillment, Album Artwork & Packaging, EP, Single, & Mixtape Artwork, Business Cards, Letterhead, Envelope, & Stationary Design, Corporate Forms, Stickers, Web & Print Advertisements, Flyers & Posters, Billboards, Tour Laminates, EPKs & Press Kits, Calendars, Social Media Graphics, Banners, and Layouts, Web Design, Search Engine Optimization, Web Traffic Analytics, Copywriting, E-Commerce Solutions, Website Conversions, Social Media and Email Marketing.

Twist Online : Do your clients belong exclusively to the music field? Or you are providing services to other fields as well?
Nick DePalo : We work with clients in a variety of fields, not just the music industry. Everything from Fortune 500 companies, to professional athletes, brands and apparel companies, universities, politicians, media outlets, international food and beverage companies, and more.

Twist Online : Who are some of your top clients?
Nick DePalo : Some of my favorite client’s I’ve had the opportunity to work with are Flo Rida, The University of Maryland, Old Bay Seasoning, Funkmaster Flex, Thy Art Is Murder, and I Set My Friends On Fire.

Twist Online : What kind of response / feedback you have receive towards your work?
Nick DePalo : A lot of the feedback we get is overwhelming positive. I’m really appreciative that I get to make art for a living and that some people enjoy it. It’s always awesome to see some of the merchandise I’ve designed come to life.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a graphic design agency?
Nick DePalo : Outside of growing the company, providing the best service we can, and making clients happy, I’m not sure I have a specific target I’m looking to hit. Working for a professional sports team would be really cool, and I hope to do that someday.

Twist Online : What’s the best way to contact you for your services?
Nick DePalo :  You can visit our website at www.empiricaldesigns.net and click the contact tab. We would love to work with you on your upcoming project.
