“Rock me to Heaven” signals a new mile marker in the career of Jamie Alimorad. Capturing the pop essence that has made him an artist to watch, “Rock me to Heaven” brings a more mature sound with Alimorad’s soothing vocals taking center stage in delivering his lyrical poetry of a true romance. Produced by Grammy nominated singer songwriter and producer Gino Vannelli. Recently we had a conversation with Jamie Alimorad about his music career and also about “Rock me to Heaven”.
Twist Online : First of we would like to now how you started your music career?
Jamie Alimorad : While studying at Northeastern I began gigging on campus and then out in the city of Boston. I got my first break playing a festival in Worcester and won recording time in a studio. Those sessions led to my EP Cornerstone.
Twist Online : Tell us something about your new single “Rock Me To Heaven”?
Jamie Alimorad : “Rock Me To Heaven” is one of my favorite Gino Vannelli tracks and it’s an honor that he wanted me to re-record it. I’ve always felt a connection with this song and the new arrangement that he crafted is absolutely beautiful. It’s a lyric that I love and I think it says something that anybody in a relationship wants and needs. Being with the one you love brings out a special feeling.
Twist Online : Everyone has an idol. Are you inspired from anyone?
Jamie Alimorad : I’ve been influenced by a lot of different artists throughout the years. Now I get to work with one! Beyond Gino everyone from the Tubes to the Beatles, Richard Marx, Bryan Adams, Rick Springfield, Toto, there are so much more.
Twist Online : Do you set goals for yourself and how do you do that?
Jamie Alimorad : It’s important to have goals and I certainly will set marks for myself to reach. Staying focused is key.
Twist Online : what’s type of music you like most ?
Jamie Alimorad : I’ve always been a big rock guy, but honestly anything with a good melody will hook me.
Twist Online : Tell us a little about your own songs ?
Jamie Alimorad : Melody has always been key to me. I like songs that I can sing, whistle, hum to. If I can’t do that it’s not the same. It doesn’t mean they’re not good, it just doesn’t have the same push for me. I’m giving more attention to story in my lyrics this time around. The beauty is in the details.
Twist Online : What is your main focus in song’s creation ? Lyrics, composition or singing itself?
Jamie Alimorad : They have to work hand in hand. I may be focussed on one aspect, but then you have to give equal attention to the next. If they don’t work together then the song will not work. The creative process is different each time. An idea can bloom and blossom at any point. It’s about harnessing that idea, letting it grow and making it into something special.
Twist Online : What is the motivation behind your work?
Jamie Alimorad : I am my own motivation. I want to do my best work today. I want to do better than I did yesterday. You never stop learning and growing. My idols push me, but really I do that to myself. I want to be better than them. I want to show the world what I can do.
Twist Online : How can your fans follow you ?
