We are sharing our recent interview with David Santo, a Detroit musician and writer.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
David Santo : I’m a Detroit musician and writer. My debut album “Faster Than Love” (1990) and my follow up album “David Santo: Rocks Against Racism” (1995) were the cornerstones of my musical career.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
David Santo : Music was my earliest dream and my earliest goal. I am inspired by sound itself.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “831”?
David Santo : 831 means: 8 letters. 3 words. 1 meaning. I love you. It’s about a woman that has been lied to and cheated on. And, after all that mess, how does she make sense out of life?
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
David Santo : I have been amazed at how positive things have been! My producer Gabriel Pilon, the record company “31 Records” – friends, family, everyone has been great!
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
David Santo : I love working in the studio. Creating. Crafting. That’s as good as it gets.
Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a songwriter?
David Santo : I only know the power of my insight when I give it creation. So writing songs is the perfect way for me to figure out my problems.
Twist Online : Do you need some certain kind of environment for writing a track?
David Santo : I write everywhere, and all the time.
Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?
David Santo : I’m doing the soundtrack for a movie starring Dean Cain and Tara Reid. This project has been one of the great joys of my life – to combine my knowledge of screenwriting with my immense love for music – and to do it with my producer Gabriel? Sweeet.
