Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Italia Gregory : Hello out there! My name is Italia Gregory, but i go by the stage name “Italia.” I’m a pop/rnb singer from Drakes Branch, Virginia and music has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve been performing since the age of 6.

Twist Online : You have been singing since childhood. what inspired you to get into music?
Italia Gregory : While singing has always been an influential part of my life, what I remember most are the girl groups from the early 90’s circa 2000 that really pushed me to want to be an artist. I would sit around on Saturday mornings watching music videos and sing along with the television. I would’ve sworn to anyone that I was performing for a sold out arena in there! [laugh]. Also, I come from a musical family which influenced me a lot as well. My dad produces his own records and has always been instrumental in helping my career. In 2006, we produced my debut album “The Money Songs,” and I’ve followed up with several singles since then.

Twist Online : Tell us about your upcoming single ‘That wave’?
Italia Gregory : Sure! this single will be something completely fresh and different for me. I’ve always thought of myself as a pretty versatile artist when it comes to the style of music I’m capable of putting out.“That Wave” is an RnBass track, which is sort of new territory as far as my own personal records are concerned. I worked with Delaware Singer/Songwriter Jaylavita on this track and I’m excited for my supporters to hear what we’ve been cooking up!

Twist Online : What kind of response you are expecting from “That Wave”?
Italia Gregory : I think people will be a little surprised, but at the same time they will notice a lot of musical growth.

Twist Online : Do you have any role model you do follow?
Italia Gregory : I don’t particularly have any one role model, but I acknowledge the great contributions to the music industry over the years from a variety of influential artists, both old school and new. The industry is constantly changing, and I think each era is a reflection of society as a whole. My home state of Virginia really wasn’t known as much of a music hub traditionally, so I’m proud of all the Virginia native artists out there who are following their dreams and leaving imprints in the industry. I always particularly liked Timbaland for his versatility.

Twist Online : Are you influenced by any particular music genre?
Italia Gregory : Oh, definitely pop music. I really have a thing for EDM/dance inspired tracks as well. I enjoy dancing almost as much as I do singing, so I like to make tracks that people can move to.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
Italia Gregory : Yes! I think goals are an important part of success, regardless of what you do in life. When it comes to music, there are probably millions of other people with the same dream across the globe. Part of my goal is to produce quality music and see this dream I’ve always had through to the end. If I can touch a handful of people, I’ll be happy. I don’t want to wake up one morning and wonder “what if.” That’s really my ultimate goal.

Twist Online : Are you working on any other project apart from “That wave”?
Italia Gregory : At the moment, I’ve been pouring all of my focus into the release of the new single. I will soon begin working on an EP, which will actually include “That Wave.” The details of the EP release haven’t been solidified yet, but supporters can anticipate that project kicking off soon.
