Farrah Mechael is a rapidly emerging artist hailing from Detroit, where she has spent most of her life singing in different capacities, from jazz to pop to opera and soul. Her latest release, Farrah Please, is yet another demonstration of her ever-impressive versatility, where lifelong pop sensibilities are crossed with an RnB feel. And she also has new web series reality show ‘Knot Normal’ to be launched on Wednesday Nov 1st. We are sharing our recent interview with Farrah.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Farrah Mechael : I started singing before I could speak, and my first song was mimicking the operatic vocals from Aurora in “A Sleeping Beauty.” I continued singing my whole life and sang in my school choir and was involved in theater. I also began singing at various churches around Detroit. My sister and I both were in the Detroit Opera House Children’s Chorus, and around that time I started to make covers of myself singing that I posted online. I went to a ton of networking events and I met someone who connected me to an engineer at a studio who helped push me to start making original music in eighth grade by connecting me with some local producers. From there it’s just been a roller coaster of traveling and meeting people, and I’m so happy and blessed to be able to share my story with everyone.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Farrah Mechael : I have a true passion for singing, and I’ve never been able to see myself doing anything else. I also want to help people through my music so I knew the music industry is where I’m meant to be.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ‘Farrah Please’?
Farrah Mechael : “Farrah Please” is a single that my sister and I wrote together and our goal was to make the listener feel empowered and somewhat enchanted. I used dreamy, ethereal vocals to send whoever is listening to a special place. I hope everyone will be able to feel this record and use it to heal, grow, or whatever else they may need help doing.
Twist Online : It seems your single is gonna shatter the records? What kind of response you are expecting from the release?
Farrah Mechael : I think that time will tell, but I hope that when people hear this record, they will be able to feel passion and share it. I think it’s unique where people will want to listen, and I’m expecting the numbers to rise along with the number of people feeling the music. It’s definitely a universal record so I don’t doubt that people from all over the world will spend time with me by listening to it.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Farrah Mechael : Performing is great because I get to build a connection with my fans and feel them more than ever, but working in the studio holds a special place in my heart. I love creating, and music is so healing that I myself feel its effects while I’m in the studio. The satisfaction of making a song that I know people will be able to benefit from, whether they learn from it or just simply relate to it, cannot compare to anything else in this world.
Twist Online : You are also launching a new web series Knot Normal, our readers would love to know more about it?
Farrah Mechael : Knot Normal is a show that starts off with my sister, my Mom, and I in Michigan packing up to move to LA and work full-time on our careers. It focuses on my mom and her life as a doctor/executive in the music industry, my sister Tamara, a songwriter, and myself. The goal is to give people a peek into our lives and hopefully everyone will be able to learn something from it! As humans, we make many mistakes and hopefully people can use our challenges to avoid making the same mistakes themselves.
Twist Online : You must have enjoyed your part in the web series along with your sister?
Farrah Mechael : Yes, it was so amazing filming and I loved being able to show my personality on camera. We got in our fair share of arguments but in the end we both felt so happy and blessed that we were given this opportunity.
Twist Online : What’s the biggest achievement in your career so far?
Farrah Mechael : I’ve had a ton of friends and people who know me contact me and say they either heard me on the radio or heard my music played at their gym or other places, and that’s always so amazing to hear. My music is on the radio, a lot of online radios, blogs, etc and I love being able to say people are hearing it all over.
Twist Online : Are you active on social? What’s the best way to follow you for news and updates?
Farrah Mechael : I am active on all social media, and everyone can stay updated and get to know me personally through:
