A Conversation With ‘Josh Ross’ About His Upcoming Album ‘Love Never Fails’

Today on our Hot Seat we have a talented artist Josh Ross. He is releasing a new album,’Love Never Fails’ in November. So we will have conversation with him about his upcoming album as well as his professional life.

Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to the readers and how and when did you first get into singing?

Josh Ross : Thank you for taking the time to interview me! I am Josh Ross, and I feel blessed to pursue my love for music full time. When I was in 8th grade I saw a production of Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat at my future high school. The show blew me away and inspired me to start singing. Before then I only played guitar. In 9th grade after getting a computer and downloading Audacity, a free recording software, I became obsessed with learning to play piano, guitar, drums, bass, and ukulele, so that I could be a one man band and record all the parts from home. Since then, I have loved to record, write songs, and perform.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you as an artist growing up?

Josh Ross : I was first inspired to sing and play guitar after listening to Green Day. “Time of Your Life” was the first song I ever performed.  As I developed my musical style, I fell in love with music by Jason Mraz, Journey, Jack Johnson, Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban, Adele, and John Mayer. Each of them shaped my musical direction in  a unique way. Josh Groban inspired me to pursue classical music, Frank Sinatra got me into Jazz, and Jason Mraz influenced most of my original music. And of course, I could never forget spending countless hours trying to imitate Steve Perry singing “Don’t Stop Believing”.

Twist Online : Tell us about your upcoming release “Love Never Fails”?

Josh Ross : Love Never Fails is a collection of some of the best love songs I have written over the past seven years. It is different than any CD I have released before because every song on the album is danceable and every song can be played at a wedding. Weddings are the single largest gathering of families and friends, so I decided to create a soundtrack for a joyful wedding. This album is about love and its power to conquer hate.

I think this type of love is especially relevant now in a time where we are increasingly distrustful of people who are different than ourselves. My dream is to create a culture of love and compassion in which people seek mutual understanding and where people can commit to each other, even for life. My ultimate goal with is album would be to bring people together across the world regardless of their race, faith, or country of origin. I hope to inspire others through the songs on the album, the music videos, and through my own life and witness.

Twist Online : Any plans of releasing music video of any of your songs in near future?

Josh Ross : Yes! In the next few weeks I will release the official music video for my upcoming single, “Do You Remember?”. I originally wrote the song for my wife when I proposed to her. And at our wedding, this was our first dance song. The music video features clips from our original wedding video, a newly choreographed partner dance, and interviews from several married couples who shared their fondest memories about their dating life and the early years of their marriage. It was a blast to film and record, and I think people will really enjoy it, and they will remember their fondest memories with their loved ones.

After the album releases, I will create more music videos in 2017.

Twist Online :You are also leading the B.A.S.I.C. band, what kind of experience you are having with the band?

Josh Ross : The B.A.S.I.C. Band and I lead the 5pm Mass at St. Anastasia in Troy, MI. We play contemporary worship songs as well as hymns. It’s a blast to work with such a diverse group of talented musicians.  One of our greatest experiences was performing our first Summer Concert last Friday for a crowd of over 350 people. We had the opportunity to play a mixture of classic rock, pop, worship, and original music that got people dancing and having a good time. We especially enjoyed playing “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Hey Jude” during the finale and having the entire audience sing and clap along.

Twist Online : Do you like performing live?

Josh Ross : I love to perform live! There is something about performing in person and communicating directly with the audience that is so fun. Seeing live performances made such a powerful impact in my life, and I hope that my performances can inspire and impact the people who come to my shows (and the people who watch the live videos on youtube).

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre? any particular reason?

Josh Ross : I enjoy listening to just about anything from classical to pop to jazz to heavy metal…Yet above all, I most enjoy jazzy pop music such as Jason Mraz, Michael Buble, and Frank Sinatra. It seems so classy and perfect for dancing, romancing, and drinking wine.

Twist Online : What are your future goals as an artist?

Josh Ross : I want to write songs and record music that people want to sing for generations and pass on to their future children. Music can speak in a way that words alone cannot.

My ultimate goal as an artist is to inspire as many people as possible and to leave a legacy with the music that I write.

Twist Online : Are you on Social Media? Your fans would love to follow you.
