A conversation with music artist Colt Liles

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.

Colt Liles : I believe I’m still at the start of my music career. I’ve been working with artists doing photography for the past few years and just kind of getting out there musically. I’m excited to continue growing as a musician and producing content with a focus towards positivity and self help.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?

Colt Liles :  I feel as if I pull inspirations from all over but musically I have been most inspired by artists such as: Mac Miller, Mod Sun, Machine Gun Kelly, Bon Iver, Trevor Hall, Chris Brown, Francis and the Lights, Lauren Sanderson, Maggie Rogers, and so many more! It doesn’t matter the genre, I love all types of music.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release Lift You up?

Colt Liles : Lift You Up is the first single I dropped off of my debut album “A Posture of Heart.” The song is a lyrical self-talk, positive mindset, and futuristic thinking type of vibe. The song is a great reflection of my character behind the music. Lift You Up also features one of my best friends and fellow musician Caleb James Smith.

Twist Online : And What kind of response have you received from your album ‘A posture of Heart’?

Colt Liles : It just released so still have reactions coming in but so far it’s been awesome. I’m really loving all the feedback from all around. You never know who is going to resonate with your music and who isn’t!

Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?

Colt Liles : I’m definitely more of an introvert so I do really enjoy the process of building the song in the studio. Although, I haven’t had my chance yet to really get into performances. I think connecting with the fans live in that way would still be just as great. The most attractive thing to all of this is the possibility of it helping someone else.

Twist Online : You are also the Co-Founder of the independent SeaDog Records. What kind of projects you are doing under this label?

Colt Liles : The label came about by a group of friends just getting together creating music. As we are looking to grow within our own music, we also look to partner with other musicians as well to help them along their path. We have someone on the team for anything a musician making music might need. SeaDog Records has got it all: beats, features, writing, artwork, photography, music videos, promo work, blogs, and recording.

Twist Online : Your Photography has any impact on your music or vice versa?

Colt Liles : Yes, I think photography has had a lot of impact. I might’ve not been pushed to follow through with making music if it wasn’t for my experiences around bigger artists such as Mod Sun and Machine Gun Kelly. Being around their energies are definitely inspiring to say the least.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?

Colt Liles : Now that I’ve dropped my first album I’m going to start focusing more on dropping singles for awhile. I have about 5 songs currently in the works that I’m stoked to finish out, stay tuned!

Twist Online : Are you active on social media? What’s the best way to follow you online?
