An Exclusive Interview with Music Artist Yorai Dragon

Today on our Hot Seat we have a very talented artist Yorai Dragon with us. He has recently released first original dance music album “Breath Of Musiq”.  Lets have a chat with him.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Yorai Dragon : The first program I’ve used to make music is Rockstar’s Beaterator. My favorite producer Timbaland had a big hand in the development of the game too.
I saw one of my old favorite YouTube producers who went by the names Chuckles – Ninja Star Production, deeraw78, and Laina_Me. I think Deeraw is the only one still with his old vids up. The other channels have had those old vids delete and are inactive as of now. After getting positive feedback, from my small Beaterator projects, I later moved on to FLStudio, which I used to make this very album. I have been nothing, but happy with the program.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Yorai Dragon : Timbaland, Black Violin, and Video Game music play a big influence on me getting into it. Aside from that, just me giving something positive to the world. Music heals and inspires. So out of the 7 songs on the album, i’d say #PickYourRemedy

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Breath Of Musiq”?
Yorai Dragon : This album started off as a part of practicing and messing around with FL Studio (Fruity Loops) in 2013. After completing one of the songs of the album, I decided to start making one. Over the years I have learned more and more about the program. Helped me improve my craft to present you, my first album. This album was only made with a laptop, headphones, and a mouse. Looking into more gadgets to make my music producing easier, I decided to finish this album only using what I started off with. In the future, I will venture into using different tools to make the producing life easier lol. Because of this, with a mix of life’s ups & downs, with a side order of the “Lack Of Motivation”, it took a very long time to finish. Halted time and time again, but the journey of developing this album has finally been completed. This album touches on diversity, hopefully catching the ears of many people around the world in a good way!

The album cover of “Breath of Musiq” is very significant as well. The album cover shows a Dragon emitting music notes through its aura, spreading it out in powerful waves. The blue-ish color of the album represents the Sapphire birthstone of September. Since the release date will be on September 13th, which also happens to be my birthday. The green highlight around “Breath Of Musiq” and my logo, represents the month’s horoscope of the Virgo. The Virgo is of the Earth Element, thus the color being green.

Each song has a lot of thought in it too. Here’s the inspiration behind them.
1. Dancing Tengu: Dancing Tengu is a song that has a theme of the Japanese folklore creature, known as the Tengu. Inspired by performance shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance” and “America’s Got Talent”, Dancing Tengu suits choreographies well. The Tengu comes onto the dance floor, ready to bust a move in front of those who oppose it.

2. Galactic Beat: A Mix of a Baltimore Beat and a Jersey Club vibe, Galactic Beat’s theme deals with the space/sci-fi part of things. The beginning of the song is a spaceship taking off, and traveling into the unknown. It then transitions to the spaceship going through a blackhole. A dramatic conflict takes hold, until those in the spaceship, shoot and boost their way to victory. As the travelers in the spaceship are reaching the end of their journey, a new conflict arrives. They take care of business and exit the blackhole, soon landing back home. (NASA has a theme they can dance to while at work…? haha)

3. Into The Unknown: This song takes the listeners into the unknown. Strange and weird twists and turns. High and low volume effects that catches the user off-guard, but in the end it somehow connects as one. Hope you’re ready for an unexpected, yet satisfying ride!

4. Summer Fun: A song made with the combination of an old school house music, and “chill” vibe. Summer Fun is like one of those house music songs you’ve heard in the 90s during a block party or club, with a little bit of variation to it.

5. Jazz Groove: Inspired a bit by broadway Jazzy performances, “Jazz Groove” mixes the instruments of classic Jazz music, with modern day dance music. Parts of the song slows down a notch, while the other kicks it up a notch. Ending off on a huge mix of the two. Creativy is in the hands of the listener.

6. Those Days: Much like the song “Summer Fun”, “Those days” is a song that touches on the sound of old school house music. It is made with a more straight forward and simpler approach, yet brings in the bass more for a dancy groove.

7. Tales Of Poppin’: The final battle, the final boss. Tales Of Poppin’ was inspired by movies such as “You Got Served”. It focus’ on a battle between a person/team against the final boss (or opposing team). Vibes of an epic tale, with hard hitting conflicts, and a segment of mystery. T.O.P aims to amp up the seriousness, and end things off on a high and hard fought note. Who will come out on top as the winner?

Twist Online : Any particular track of the album that’s your favorite?
Yorai Dragon : It seems to change every week or two lol. The 3 recent ones I’ve liked are 3. Into The Unknown, 2. Galactic Beat, and 7. Tales Of Poppin’

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Yorai Dragon : I’ve gotten a lot of good feedback. People saying they love how it’s unique, but familiar in some ways. How the mix of the instruments all blend well together. How it reminds them of old school dance music too.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Yorai Dragon : I’m not really a stage presence guy. I want to branch out a bit with my music though. Not only dance music, but music for video games, and perhaps some hip hop instrumentals in the future.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Yorai Dragon : I made my music for the world to hear, so my target is the world. I don’t really care about being famous, but I’d love for my music to be heard by as many people as possible.

Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?
Yorai Dragon : Not currently. Since I’m new in the music industry, I want to focus on what I have out now. Planting my seeds in as many places as I can, so they can bloom somewhere.

Twist Online : Are you active on social media? What’s the best way to follow you online?
Yorai Dragon : Yes, I have Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
