Twist Online: Who or what inspired you to get into this industry?
King Gaines: I was inspired to get into the music industry by my friend Derrick he heard me rap before he passed away and told me I had a gift so when he passed I told myself I would take it more seriously but I was young and in to things so I kinda got away from the music then one day my cousin was listening to a beat and i was feeling it lol I freestyled for him he liked the way I rapped and signed me to his label Richburg Entertainment and from there I further developed my writing skills delivery and overall how to structure songs properly.

Twist Online: Tell us about your recent release “Mission”?
King Gaines: Mission which is my first single off of the ‘Grind Hard To Shine Hard’ EP at the time I had lost a good friend I was listening to a beat by King Drum Dummy I wrote out the hook and my verse then as I kept listening to the beat I heard my bro BDM Drewski on the song I sent it to him he wrote his verse we linked up and went into the studio recorded it and released it the video is now out on YouTube and SoundCloud.

Twist Online: You also got another track released recently titled ‘Grind Hard To Shine Hard’. Tell us about that?
King Gaines: Yea ‘Grind Hard To Shine Hard’ is my second single off of the EP it has the same name obviously lol it is produced by notable Bay Area producer JayPbangz the song came about when I was going through a rough time financially and I told myself if I don’t grind I won’t be able to shine in the long run the song is now available on all streaming platforms so check that out my label is behind that one 100 percent and we not done with Mission so ima in a great space right now it’s all coming together.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
